This section details all that you need to know about making an application to Study Abroad at City & Guilds of London Art School.

Our application process is very straightforward… just follow the guidelines below to ensure your application is reviewed promptly and you get a quick response from us.

  1. Choose your course and decide when you want to come. We accept students for one or two terms, starting in the autumn or the spring term.
  2. Check our deadlines and your fees.
  3. Make sure you are eligible. Will you have completed at least a year of undergraduate study by the time you arrive here? If you do not speak English as a first language, you will need to show us that you can achieve at least IELTS 6.0. Don’t forget to check with your home institution that they will recognise your study here.
  4. Complete and submit your online application. We will need a copy of the photo page of your passport, a recent transcript, and evidence of your IELTS score (if applicable). You will also need to email our Reference form to your referee for them to complete and return to us. Last but not least, submit materials in support of your application. Any work submitted must be publicly viewable without the need for password or login. For Fine Art, Architectural Stone Carving, and Woodcarving & Gilding, this will be a digital portfolio of 15 to 20 images. You should choose what you consider to be your strongest work undertaken within the last two years, which also represents the range of your interests and practice. Each image in your portfolio should include the title, media, dimensions, date and, if necessary, no more than 50 words of description. For Conservation, we welcome applications from students from a range of different academic backgrounds, and you do not need to submit a digital portfolio unless you want to. We look at each application individually, and consider your motivation as well as your range of skills and knowledge of this subject area.
  5. Accept your offer! We aim to let you know within 2 weeks of your submitting your application whether or not we can offer you a place. Things will move quickly once this happens, so please be ready to pay your Administration, Application and Registration fee. We will provide you with all the information you need for a smooth and easy transition to living in London.
