COURSE DESCRIPTION

Over the course of this 8-week programme, you will learn the fundamentals of traditional etching and intaglio printmaking.

While participating in the course, you will learn how to prepare a plate, apply a wax ground and work with an aquatint. You will learn different mark making techniques throughout each process, and how to print a plate using intaglio.

By the end of the course, you will have a strong understanding and knowledge of etching and will be able to leave with prints demonstrating the skills you have learnt.

Week 3 – Sugar Lift, Aquatint

Week 4 – Sugar Lift, Aquatint

Week 5 – Experimental Grounds (Water Mixable Oil Paints)

Week 6 – Chine Colle

Week 7 – Multi-Plate Printing

Week 8 – Editioning

What is included: All teaching and materials

What isn’t included: Images – if you would prefer to work from images, sketches or pictures you have taken, whether physical or digital, please bring these with you to the class. Please also bring an apron/wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty.
