Congratulations to Stone Carving alumna Lily Marsh, who was commissioned for the first official portrait bust of King Charles III.
The sculpture, which commemorates the 35th anniversary of the King’s Foundation, was recently unveiled and will remain on permanent display at Dumfries House.
Lily shared: “Sculpted in my workshop in Sheffield, this project has been a huge honour and incredible career moment. First sculpted in clay and then cast into bronze, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the process and wonderful people I’ve worked with. The stone plinth was supplied by Hutton Stone Co Ltd and carved by the talented Samuel Starsmore. Special thanks go to the King’s Foundation, Bronzecast and the Royal Family”.
A QEST Scholar and King’s Foundation alumna, Lily graduated from City & Guilds of London Art School in 2020, and was the recipient of several prizes during her time at the Art School, including the Brinsley Ford Award, which funded her travel to Rome to study classical sculpture.
