These conditions govern all short course bookings made with City and Guilds of London Art School (“the Art School”, “we”, “us”, or “our”), registered in England, with charity registration number 1144708, whose registered office is at 124 Kennington Park Road, London SE11 4DJ. You (“you“, “the booker“) accept these conditions whether you are booking for yourself or on behalf of others. In addition, by visiting or using our website, you agree to comply with the website terms and conditions.
Please read these short course bookings terms and conditions carefully before making a booking or considering a change to an existing booking.
a) Payment is made through Eventbrite and in accordance with Eventbrite’s payment terms as indicated in their Terms of Service, available on the Eventbrite website.
a) Our fees are as published on our website, and on the Eventbrite website, and are payable in GBP (pounds sterling).
b) All advertised fees are to the best of our knowledge correct at the date of publication. However, we reserve the right to change any fees from time to time.
a) If you cancel your booking no later than 28 days before the course is due to commence, we will refund the course fee to you via the Eventbrite website. This is subject to the Eventbrite Terms of Service, as detailed on their website, which state that Eventbrite’s charges are non-refundable. The Eventbrite charges are 6.5% of the ticket price plus £0.49 per ticket, and 20% VAT.
There are several exceptions when Eventbrite will refund their charges to you. These are if the refund is requested due to a Covid-19- related issue, when an event is cancelled by the organiser (the Art School) or if you were charged multiple times in error and request a refund within 7 days of purchase.
b) All requests for changes and cancellations must be made via the Eventbrite website.
c) All changes to a course booking must be made no later than 10 working days before the start of the course and are subject to availability. Should any change be rejected, your original booking will stand. Name changes will not incur any charges or administration fee.
d) Non-arrival will be treated as a cancellation and you will not be entitled to any refund.
e) Non-attendance does not entitle you to any refund, extra teaching or a transfer to another course.
f) If you cancel your place on the course fewer than 28 days before the course starts, you will not automatically receive a refund. We consider all refund requests made within 28 days of the course start date on a case-by-case basis.
a) We do not expect to have to make any changes to your booking, however occasionally courses have to be changed or cancelled or errors in information or other details corrected, and we reserve the right to do so. If this does happen, we will contact you by telephone or email.
b) If there is insufficient demand for a course, we may need to cancel but will do so no later than 5 working days before the start of the course.
c) If a change has to be made or your course has to be cancelled we will, if possible, offer you an alternative short course. If the alternative course is advertised at a lower fee, you will receive a refund of the fee difference. However if the alternative course is advertised at a higher fee, the new fee will be payable. If you do not wish to accept a change or any alternative course offered or we cannot offer you a suitable alternative course, we will refund your course fee. You should tell us as soon as possible whether you wish to accept any change or alternative course offered or alternatively if you want a refund.
d) If we have to cancel a session of a course (e.g. because of the unavailability of the tutor), then we shall endeavour to contact you as soon as possible. In such an event, we will offer you a credit towards your next course or refund you a proportion of the course fee relating to the cancelled session.
a) We will issue you with a certificate of attendance, on request, in the name specified on your booking form, if you have attended at least 80% of the course.
a) We take the health and safety of all our students seriously. On arrival you should familiarise yourself with the layout of the building and the health and safety procedures as detailed by your tutor.
b) You must comply with our health and safety rules, including wearing suitable clothing and footwear for practical classes.
c) Any health and safety enquiries can be raised with the Short Courses Administrator if required.
a) Short course students are required to behave in a responsible way, and respect their fellow students and the Art School. They may not cause any sort of nuisance or disruption to fellow students or use threatening or abusive behaviour towards a member of staff on the phone, in writing or in person.
b) Bookings may not be accepted from any students under the age of 18. Proof of identification and date of birth may be requested on arrival and if not presented on request, we reserve the right to cancel the booking, and you will receive a refund of the course fees, minus the Eventbrite detailed (as detailed in point 3.a).
a) We are not responsible for the theft of or damage to your personal belongings during your course. Therefore you are advised to ensure you have appropriate insurance in place. In addition you are advised to ensure you have appropriate travel insurance to cover cancellation and medical expenses.
a) Nothing in these terms and conditions shall affect your statutory rights if you are a consumer. Nothing in these terms and conditions limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence; or for any damage or liability incurred by you as a result of fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation by us, or any liability that cannot by law be excluded.
b) Subject to the paragraph above, we shall not be liable for any loss of profits, loss of business, depletion of goodwill and/or similar losses, loss of anticipated savings, loss of goods, loss of contract, loss of use, loss of corruption of data or information, or any special, indirect, consequential or pure economic loss, costs, damages, charges or expenses.
c) Other than in relation to death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or any other liability that by law cannot be excluded or restricted, our liability to you in relation to these conditions is limited to the value of the booking made with us.
a) In the unlikely event that you are dissatisfied with any aspect of our service please notify the Short Courses Administrator as soon as possible in the first instance. If you do not give us the opportunity to resolve a problem before or during your course, this may affect the final outcome of any complaint received. a) We will use the personal information you provide to process your payment, provide our services and to tell you about our courses including special offers that we think may be of interest to you.
b) We will not give your personal data to any other third party, unless your booking has been made through an agent, in which case we may share information with them.
a) We reserve the right to change these conditions from time to time.
b) If short course students are in breach of any of these conditions, we reserve the right to request that students leave the course immediately.
c) Booking restrictions may apply, including, but not limited to, minimum age restrictions.
d) These conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and the Courts of England shall have exclusive jurisdiction in relation to any claim, dispute or difference concerning these conditions and any matter arising from them.
